I doubt any of you guys have seen this game, but it is truly an example of how a game can be great but have absolutely shit graphics. By shitty graphics I mean ASCII.

Bay 12 Games: Dwarf Fortress

Absolutely amazing. You raise a small settlement of 7 dwarves to become a mighty royal stronghold, braving the onslaught of starvation, sieges, the occasional titan or dragon attack and the stupidity of your own citizens.

Or you can just wander around and single-handedly exterminate villages in textually detailed combat.

Furthermore, the forum community is decent and you can share your various entertainingly miserable failures with other losers.

This can be either a hit or a miss. Only you can decide.

Looks pretty good for text based (But I play KoL and Heroes of Ardania, and those are the only real text-based games I've really gotten interested in so...).

It's not text based. The ASCII isn't a problem unless you're a fucking retard who can't see beyond pretty pictures and has no imagination whatsoever (not much is needed). It's just a sort of sandbox/kinda strategy/roguelike game with no real goals beside your own.

I can easily understand and respect your opinions if you're gonna say it eats dog shit or doesn't deserve to exist, but atleast say something better than "lolawl itrnot haelo omgwtf shyt graficks lol anuther shtitty omglol." Hell! Maybe even try it for a second or two!

I can't believe you people. You're bashing this game for having ascii graphics. None of you even tried the game did you? None of you have put enough effort into the game to have your nice little fortress been eaten by carp(Yes carp the fish), or have put in enough effort to fail to take into account the fact that things can move diagonally so that when that ogre you thought was safely trapped in the cave gets out you're totally unprepared for it and are forced to mine into the volcano as a last resort releasing a flood of magma to consume the fortress only to see the ogre escape and all your dwarves to be burned to death. My god I love this game. And shame on you all.
