It wasn't the mere stray off course that made me take that course of action. It's that it was a deliberate attempt to derail the thread, which would have made Thor's check-up of the thread more difficult than it needed to be. And no, cycling through several pages is more difficult than one long post.

And no, I didn't ban those members because it was personal. It could have very well been my own mother that posted after me and she would have gotten the same suspension. I said what the consequences of posting were after I made that post and they chose to challenge it. That's their fault.

And deleting their posts would have received the same turn out. I don't like deleting people's posts anyway. I am adamantly opposed to limiting free speech, which is why I found it fine if they made another thread to discuss the matter.

If you take notice, I don't penalize people very often. Only trolls and spammers. However, I felt this was a case that needed to be addressed without the Peanut Gallery making things difficult, so I put a blockade up.

Obviously, you missed the point that the thread was to be a discussion between myself, Thor and Ready2Wear. Locking the thread would prevent Ready2Wear from responding.

And no, I'm not here just to delete porn in the sexy-off thread. I am a moderator; I moderate discussions. A legitimate issue that pertained to the staff was being unloaded on by spammy posts that would have dragged on for pages, making it more difficult for Thor to cycle through everything.

I don't have a problem with something going off topic if it it pertained to the discussion at one point. But what you're not understanding is that the thread was being intentionally derailed, simply, because some of the members don't like Ready2Wear. That makes it difficult for Thor to handle his shit if he did come in within the allotted time.

And what does the length of my posts have to do with anything? Because I actually think and formulate intelligent responses, that is to be begrudged? Those very posts are what got me the respect I have to be modded.

Your typical forumite mentality of "OMG BANING IS RONG" is quite old and quite stupid. Do you think I wanted to ban them? Njord is one of my best friends on these forums. But he made a conscious decision to post after I said not to because I exercised a manner of judgment that I felt needed to be carried out as I did it.

It's amusing that so many of you are on my coat tails about this matter, yet you're petrified to scold Thor for him banning Ready2Wear for a matter of free speech and a violating a very vague warning that barely pertained to the thread Ready2Wear made.

I made a rash and unfair decision? How? When I froze a thread that was being debased for personal grudges? When no one listened to me when I asked them to stop? When I asserted some moderating authority and still no one listened? When I asserted more authority after several members made duplicate accounts?

There is barely anyone on these forums who think that the three bans were unjust. Including Njord, himself. They weren't banned for "pointless posts", they were suspended for disobeying direct orders put forth by the only active authority on ARG.

The fact of the matter is that they suspended/banned themselves the moment they posted after I said what the repercussions were for doing so.
