Metal and
rap rock.
I'll just say that RATM defies the rules of any one genre, but I know Static X is metal. I'm positive that it's metal. Just to remove doubt -
here, and
here.
Who cares about Motley Crue. They don't interest me at all.

In Flames is Melodic Death Metal and Decapitated is Technical Death Metal. There are differences in vocals, arrangement, drumming, and the overall vibe of the music.

They are both so raucous that I only hear screaming and indistinct noise. No offense, but even if there were some way to make believe the two were so different, they are still hard to enjoy. There's nothing to understand, I can't even tell what they are playing.

Metal guitarists don't just tap, a lot do other stuff like sweep, string skip, and just shred. Yes, Jazz is quite a bit more complicated than a lot of Metal, but most Metal is more complicated than most rock. Thats a fact.

Sweeping was originally a part of Jazz, wasn't it? I think Wes Montgomery and Les Paul did a lot of sweeping and tremolo picking. String skipping and tremolo picking are prevalent in a couple of different music genres, rock being one of them. 'Shredding' isn't a well defined term, but it has been applied to Jazz, Rock, and Metal, combined.
I think that if you look into guitar history, you would find a lot of those terms have a place in rock. Metal, as I've said before, is an off-shoot of rock, and there is almost definitely going to be someone back at the source using those techniques.

And Metal has a much much greater range than Rock. You just have to dig into Metal. There are all kinds of different styles with different influences and themes that cover a lot more than Rock does.

So now you're making the allegation that I am unknowledgable about metal, and that's why I don't think of metal the same way you do. In response, I could say that you are the one who is truly ignorant of rock. Perhaps we should just agree to disagree. Let it be understood, though, that I like metal, I just believe I'm being honest, here.
