Default metal

i need some more songs on my ipod but i can't find much on any other genre that i usually listen to nowadays. i was wondering if anyone could give me some good metal bands i could get started on besides metallica.

thanks.

o ya, preferably from the eighties to nineties genre because music from this decade tends to blow.

Depends on what kind of metal you want.

Classic Metal - 80s Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne

Death Metal - Cannibal Corpse, Six Feet Under, Behemoth, In Flames

Black Metal - Dimmu Borgir, Rotting Christ, Satyricon, Cradle of Filth (it's not exactly black metal but for the sake of keeping it general)

Power Metal - Blind Guardian, Rhapsody (of Fire), Terasbetoni, Lordi

Thrash Metal - Slayer, Anthrax

I left out tons because I gotta run right now. But that should get you started.

That's still around? Try the Deftones or Chevelle. Their some of the newest metal bands that aren't just poseurs in black screwing around with random chord progressions.
