Coldplay is not a metal band, and neither is U2 or Foo Fighters. They're good bands, but not metal.

Absolutely NOT. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmi Hendrix, and Les Paul were not metal musicians, and they're just the popular virtuosos. (Actually, few people know who Les Paul is, these days. He's better than most of the rock/metal musicians I've seen, and without him, there wouldn't be anyone else to compete with) Metal musicians just tap a lot and play fast, not necessarilly creatively or musically. Page is pretty good, but other than that, they get really boring after a while.

Ok,Grungekid, what part made laugh. Because I can support...well all of that, if u really want to argue about it.

Also, Calligum said that metal has SOME of the best musicians AROUND. Implying that a) not every great musician plays metal and b) the musicians to which he refers are prominent now. Stevie Ray Vaughn...dead. Jimmy Hendrix...dead. Les Paul...92. Do u see where I'm going with this?

I'm sure u know you're music, but you're gonna have to start to prove that now.

Their only albums worth listening to are their first and second. Their second is better because its less pop. Their third was just trying to please the corrupting alternative scene. And their fourth is well, their first album but shitty. Although they have some good material, its not great. Although they are one of the more Punk and less posery Pop-Punk bands.

You can't forget the Blues guitarists, the Jazz guitarists (like Django Reinhardt, google him, he could only use 2 of his fingers, and he would shred), and the blues influenced Rock guitarists. I didn't mean creatively or musically, I just meant in terms of pure technical skill. But there are certainly a handful of Metal guitarists who are skilled musically as well as technically (John Petrucci, Michael Romeo...). Just like most guitar based styles.

Don't forget metal musicians who don't play the guitar, such as Mike Portnoy (drummer in Dream Theater) and Tuomas Holopainen (keyboardist from Nightwish). And even vocalists like the great Ronnie James Dio!
