You missed Rush and Blue Oyster Cult. Blue Oyster Cult arguably started metal (not easy to argue against it, but some people do), and Rush is quite possibly the best band still around. Neil Peart is the best rock drummer ever, and the best overall drummer alive. Not to mention Geddy Lee influenced every 90's bassist.

They're music is alright, but the bassist, Flea pisses me off, and here's why. He claims to be influenced almost entirely by jazz, yet he plays bass just like Larry Graham from Sly and the Family Stone (a very prominent funk band. They did songs like "Everyday People") and nothing like Jaco Pastorius of the jazz fusion band Weather Report, who is considered to be the best bassist ever. So how is he influenced more by jazz then funk?
Also, RHCP fans piss me off because they talk about how amazing they are, even though Rush is still significantly better instrumentally.
