When my father was 18, he was high, and riding his bike down a busy street. He was hit by a 60 mph car, and he had to have his arm amputated. He almost died, and if he didn't live, I wouldn't be alive.

You, obviously, failed to understand the comparison Baldr was making.

A good job/career.
Not wasting the time you were granted in life.
Leaving a mark on Midgard before you pass on.

Not doing anything that makes up a failure, including, but not limited to depression, cutting, idiocy, ignorance, divorce, getting abused by others.

He with the stronger skin will survive wounds. But he with the stronger mind will have the knowledge not to take those wounds. The former has to learn lessons the hard way whereas the latter is strong enough of mind to have them already imparted. Exercise good judgment and you won't have to get hurt. Baldr doesn't say not to take risks, but do them with wisdom and use reasoning when approaching a situation. Experience is not the only way to garner knowledge and it's not always the best way either. Baldr thinks you'd all agree that getting cancer is not the best way to garner knowledge of it.

I suppose thats because the two things you compared are completely arbitrary . You took half of the sentence and compared it out of its original context.

No, I don't have that foolish puppy dog love. He doesn't make me nervous or anything. I'm completely comfortable around him. A hopeless romantic is only hopeless in the eyes of one who never knew romance.

Well, congratulations. And no I'm not being sarcastic. I don't know how old you are, but I'm glad you found someone. I'm just saying, I know true love is rare, but it is possible and everyone else thinks that's what he and I have, and I'm not giving up just because of a few statistics.
