My pride is great, I shall not stay.
So hang me high, I will not crawl.
And maybe then Ill find a way
To touch the stars before I fall.

The battles not with swords or spears
We do not play for love or land
We cannot always face our fears,
And strengths not always close at hand.

The truth will be the first to die,
And love will follow in its wake,
The sleepless angels sing on high,
The dark will claim what none doth take.

So here we sit and turn to clay,
We speak of things we do not know.
Whilst all our children dance and play
Amid the newly scarlet snow.
