yup, yup.
the black box came up and i typed "ping", hit enter, and it brought up some letters and options.

i'd put it on here but it wont let me highlight it.

There should be some categories like

IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway Address, and a bunch of others.

Now I hope stricken can help you further. Its been ages since I've used Windows regularly.

One second i'm gonna ping my computer and make sure I got this right

Well I'm on an OLD computer so i can't ping it

However, it should be under default gateway

Don't touch your subnet mask!
