Kicking is totally cool if done correctly.

High and fast is the way to go.
Don't give your victim enough time to catch on to what you're doing.

I find kicking cooler, because of the skill it takes to be successful with it. Anyone can punch. A kick is stronger, unless all you do is bench press. Passionate?

Punching, for sure. You throw yourSELF into a punch, not just a blow, but an essence. Do that with a kick. You'll break your leg.

That's if you have pussy shins. I've been using my trampoline since I was about 5 years old, the effect was a kick that'd shatter the ribs it connected to in a kick.

Think about this, if you move right you can turn a simple kick into a combination of moves that wouldn't even require use of your fists. That has a much better effect than one brutish swing of the fist.
