Actually I came across a very similar situation with my bike.

I was walking through town with my mate, and my bike. We was approached by two people and they tried to pick a fight, but I denied the offer seeing as my mate was a pussy and wouldn't help me out, as we tried to make our way off one of the two hit me in the face, to the side of my chin.

In my life I had never been hit so pathetically. Infact I laughed.
The guy stood there somewhat shocked and as I dropped my bike to break his face in he ran away. I'd never seen someone run so fast away from me in my life.
Two firsts that night so far.

Then as I returned to my bike (My friend still watching) the other person out of the two said they was going to take my bike, I pushed them off my bike and told them to fuck off and I won't hurt them.
Not accepting this warning, they ran at me, but I wasn't going to throw the first punch, no not my style.
Instead I dodged and kept repelling them, throwing them away as soon as they was arm's length away. I threw them into a car and this was when I was getting fed up shouted "Fuck off or I'm going to hurt you".
Not taking heed in this obvious statement, as i turned around I was cracked around the face in the nasal/cheek part.
Without any consideration or thought put in it I thrusted full velocity , my fist clenched tightly, into the face of who hit me.
Immediately they fell to the floor crying their eyes out.

I was kind of upset that they didn't put up much of a fight, but it was satisfactory enough to know that I broke their cheek bone.

And that they tried to press charges on me for ABH [Actual bodily harm].
My friend still watching, but now in amazement of how the situation turned out, I hopped on my bike and coasted down the street.

Fact is cause they're intimidating in a group, doesn't mean they're all walk. If you hit one hard enough there's a chance the other's will pussy out and run a mile.

If you're preparing to hit someone with an object, then consider if you're caught you'll be treated a lot more severly and likely not on terms of self defence. This happened to me a few weeks later when I was attacked by a group of 4 people and then pulled out my bike chain, wrapping it around my fist shouting
"Come on then?!"

Yeah probs could have done without that.. but it feels so good haha.
