I'm out of school, and had over 20 days off for snow days and Feast Days. BENEFITS OF CATHOLIC SCHOOL - BAM! I'm a sophomore, and (as expected) have realized that the private school experience differs from public school tremendously. First year, I was in all the honors classes and just stuck with the smart clique. Right away, you'll see the cliques forming. Get in one, or enjoy eating by the vending machines. Cruel, but there is very little one can do to prevent it. Though it is sort of cliché, but you're in school. Meaning, studies come first. Don't forget that. Oh, and the most important thing right here: It's almost summer. Enjoy it. Worry later (or not at all).

Yeah,
don't fall behind in your school work.
You'll feel, and look like an idiot.

I like the feeling of success,
don't like social things get to your head,
you'll only be there for 4 years anyways.

Speaking as a soon to be sophomore, I'll tell you what I know about freshman year. The school work will be somewhat harder than in middle school, but you get used to that pretty easily. Finals aren't that bad either. What you've really got to look out for is pointless and retarded highschool drama bullshit, but I'm sure you know that already. If you've got a bunch of friendships, be prepared to lose some.

Hmm, I guess that's why I barely have any friends. I don't really belong to any highschool "tribe".

well this is true for most people if you find a few good friends you can avoid the cliches. My main group i hang out with consist of a prep, a few scene kids, 2 goths, an emo, a skater, a bunch of stoners and hippies, a wannabe ganster, and a poor kid. I'm pretty much friends with everyone and avoid sticking to one stereotype of person. Just be friendly and try and find a few real friends int he beginning.

Were different and we don't care what people of our :"cliche" think about us hanging out with everybody else.

Whether you realize it or not,
you've made a clique of your own.

But I see your point,
I get along with the majority of people.
I'd feel too enclosed if I 'belonged' to people.

i think high school is a good experience that most people need... but it still isnt fun.

its better than middle school because there really is a lot more freedom in many ways like longer breaks between classes (went from 4 mins in middle school to 15 mins in high school) and more choices in classes. if youre actually into your academics at all like i am (well, for certain classes), its really cool to have the opportunity to take some classes. i mean throughout high school ill be taking psychology, sociology, world religions, etc. thats the kind of stuff you cant do in middie.

as far as cliques go, in my school, they became much looser and kind of blended into each other so theres no clear lines anymore. still, you sorta feel like you belong to a group and when you start hanging out with people on different levels everyone thinks youre a freak.

the whole group thing actually really sucks because even if you love your group, youll wish you were in other ones because you feel locked into the entire group's personality and youre forced to act that way. which is really awful for me.

I don't really like High School. School itself is good, I actually don't mind the mental workout or social interaction. I do pretty well at both. What bothers me is listening to peoples' opinions, disrespect for teachers who care about them, and constant bickering. Plus, I have been having problems with anxiety and medication since early in my sophomore, for some reason.

I don't know about anyone else, but i managed to get through high school with few emotional scars and almost no drama. Honestly, i never really got what the big deal was. Like Grungekid said, it's basically just a place for a couple hundred kids to get together five days a week with a little mental workout in between. No prob.
