Problems with what you've said:
1: I hate coffee. (though I get the idea)
2: I can't drive, so how would we get there?(she can't drive either)
3: I can't get a job, so how would I pay for the coffee(or related item) if I happened to be able to get there?
My first idea was to just introduce myself, but I still think she would find it a bit odd...

Don't be blunt. first, you need to introduce yourself to her IN PERSON. If you get her number from a friend, it may seem creepy. Start talking to her. Try to subtly let her know you want her without letting her know for sure. Get her number, and start texting her and keep communicating with her as much as possible. Ask her out within a week or so. If she turns you down, try to keep friends and move on to the next girl. This way, you stay in contact and if you still like her later, you can try to get her to make that leap from friend to girlfriend.
