| There seems to be an increasing amount of threads directed towards the "I like him, but I don't know what to say!" subject. So here's another story, true events of course, to help out our female friends. *Names are changed, but if you've been keeping up, you'll recognize the characters* Problem So my friend Mariah is confused. She's really pretty, has a lot of friends, and makes it a point to talk to be as sociable as she can (My observations of course). However, she thinks there may be something wrong with her. 2 years into High school, and she has not had 1 successful date. Being as pretty as she is, guys usually think she's easy and a whore, which is not the case. Never has she found a guy who was sensitive, attractive, and didn't seem brain dead. However, one guy has been all these things, yet she doesn't know if he likes her or not. Aero, a quiet, contemplative individual...talked to Mariah on her first day of high school. Ever since, she's been attracted to him. She tries to drop hints by striking up conversations in the hall, classes, at lunch..but he seems to not be interested. However, he does consider her a friend. So of course, she came to me about the problem. I told her not to worry about it, being the benevolent person that I am, I would fix everything up. So, the next week, Aero comes and asks Mariah out, but the date ends badly. Aero turns out to be an asshole, just like all those other guys. So of course, I have to soothe the child. Not all guys are like that, just tell him how you feel. He's just nervous, and doesn't know how to act around someone as beautiful as you. You intimidate him. So that Tuesday, he walks up to her and strikes up a conversation. He says he's sorry about the date, and would like another chance. She says, it's ok because she really likes him, but she likes him for him. He's surprised, and the next date goes smoothly, with both having too much fun to handle. Solution Mariah really had only one problem here, and that was being afraid to lay her heart out on the table. As with girls, telling a guy you love his smile, the conversations you share, or that he's attractive, shouldn't embarrass you. Her first date went bad because Aero was unsure if Mariah was even attracted to him, and he tried to compensate for flaws that weren't there. Women, men are confused beasts. Sure, if you want a good lay, there are plenty of assholes out there to give it to you. However, for those guys you are attracted to for more than their wallets or sex, you have to work a bit more for it. Conclusion Telling a guy you like him up front is way better than trying to drop pointless hints at the end of rainbows. Most guys would be extremely flattered, and would probably be more than willing to take you out. If a guy asks you on a date, make sure he realizes that you're already attracted to him, otherwise, you wouldn't have said yes to going out. Trust me, it makes the world go round.
