Japanese animation. You could call it a cartoon, but many would be mad at you for doing so. Basically because it's different animation, the characters have a different look, fell, and it generally feels "new" with each anime.

The biggest difference between US and Japanese "cartoons/anime" is the amount of story and emotion that goes into each series.

The more popular ones you may be familiar with, or have heard of would be Dragon Ball Z, or these days Naruto.

Hmm, we'll I first became interested with it as Naruto, thought it was funny so watched it till ep 105 where then it became a chore to try and follow along with the 15 different plots going on

Then found Death Note, That was fun

And basically that's it. Naruto and Death Note. I don't really go out of my way too watch anime

Trinity Blood and Blood + are both completely retarded.

Bleach is decent, though the fanbase is annoying. Not as bad as the Naruto fanbase, but still pretty awful.

Death Note started good but then just got pointless when they started skipping important parts of plot from the manga.

FLCL is naturally amazing.

I've stated it before, but the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, while an obvious choice, is easily the best I've seen.
