The blank, black screen of the computer flickered to life, as a young and tired male began to speak, "Case file: Kira Records. Date: November 28, 2004. Entry Number: one." The voice faltered briefly as the sound of someone typing filled the small room. "Yes, that should do. Now to leave behind my evidence."
The man cleared his throat and began to speak again. This time his voice did not falter, nor did it ever waver. "It was a year ago when Kira first became known. A year since the supposed Death Note fell into his hands. A year since I first challanged him to show his face in public. And a year since criminals mysteriously began dying.
I became interested in this particular case soon after the deaths began occurring. I had taken an odd interest in learning the true idenity of Kira. So with this case quickly becoming known as the Kira Case, I took it into my own hands to capture Kira and to make sure that he was brought to justice!
Because in my eyes: Justice will always prevail!
Within the media, Kira was labeled as being a cold blooded killer, and that is what he is! And even though I knew that Kira only seemed to go after hardened criminals that no longer have a life worth living. And that the ones he killed were actually meant to live out the rest of their lives behind bars within federal prisons. But even still, this made no difference.
Soon after Kira appeared in the media, those who were his followers made their stand against me, and the others who knew that Kira had to be stopped. His followers told us that what Kira was doing was good, and that it would purify our unclean world. That we should just leave Kira alone! That we should not stop him. That if we stopped him, we were defying God himself!
But Kira is no God! Kira is a Devil! To say that Kira was as great and as powerful as a God, is like saying that everyone who dies today is going straight to Hell!
Not everyone is evil!
Killing people, Kira said, was the only way to make the world that we live in a little more perfect...A little more safe....And free of all crimes. And witht the rapid increase in deaths, that's what happened. The number of crimes decreased throughout the world by more than 50%.
Though the only explaination of this was that people feared Kira.
But what if I dared to test Kira's powers? What if I learned how Kira killed? What would happen to me? What would happen to Kira? What would happen to the world?"
