I changed my mind. I guess that it'd all have to come down to who the person is, and what sort of situation you're in.

For instance:
If you were about to be murdered, then I'd say that it's okay to used the Death Note.

But if you were in no danger at all, then it isn't okay to use it. For if you're just using the Death Note to use it, then you yourself are no different than a criminal.

Well Tsuri, you've brought up a good point. And there really is no easy way for me to answer it. So I've been thinking it through....trying to come up with an answer worth giving. And this is what I came up with.

So: If I knew that a mass murder were about to occur, would I use the Death Note to kill the one person who was going to kill the others?

My answer is: No, I wouldn't.

And now that I further think about it: I maybe wouldn't even use the Death Note for my own self defense.

But if you think about it: You may know that a mass murder is about to happen, but you may not know the name of the murderer, and you may not even know the criminals face. Even with the Shinigami eyes, if the person is wearing a mask while committing his crimes, you still wouldn't be able to see the persons' name. So you wouldn't be able to kill him with the Death Note in that situation.

And also: The criminal could be blended in with the rest of the other people. So you wouldn't know who the criminal would be, and it would be pointless and also inhumane to kill every single one of the people with the Death Note.

There are many things to think through about this whole: What Would You Do With A Real Death Note?

I mean you also have to ask yourself this: If your best friend murdered someone, and you knew about it, and you had a real Death Note: Could you bring yourself to kill them? Even though to you they were still your best friend?

So I ask again: Could you really bring yourself to kill them?

If my friend turned into a ruthless murderer, I'd probably use it so that he at least died with somewhat of a conscience. Besides, if he knows you know, then he may come after you.

I'd simply kill anyone who got in my way. I'd take a more fun path towards world domination.
