Well, in any regards, people get older and mature. Maybe they have different interests from you, or you guys are just drifting apart. Shit happens.
My best female friend and I aren't nearly as close as we used to be. In fact we barely talk anymore. It makes me sad sometimes, but thems the breaks. We have different paths in life and different world views on everything and the only thing we have in common now is a past and a neighborhood.
