My Best friend is getting un-grounded this weekend so we were going to go and hang out. We decided that we were going to go to the mall to mostly look around and stuff our faces in the cafe's and maybe buy some shoes. I usually make trips to the mall about once or twice in 2 months. My parents dont like the mall because its crowded. This is what they said when I asked my mom if she could take us (and supervise us as she wanted)
Dad: "Malls are for buying what you need and leaving. You are not supposed to hang out there. That is not what they are for. And what if some boys come over, are you going to hang out with them?!"
Me: "No, we are just going to-"
Mom: "No, you hang out at movies and friends houses. Malls, ha!"
Dad: "When I was a kid...bla bla bla...
Me: "Thats what kids do now-a-days. We hang out at the mall."
Dad: "No, thats stupid. You dont need to window shop and not buy anything. Whats the point of going if you're not going to buy anything?!"
Me: "To hang out-"
Mom: "I'm done with this conversation, you are not going to hang out in a mall"
WTF!? Are they right to think that way? They compare everything ot 'their generation' and if they think its stupid than it must be.
Are any of your parents like that?
How should I convince them to let me go, and to tell them that things have changed, and they need to let me have some freedom?
