Get around 8 hours of sleep. Seriously, you have no idea how important that is.
Learn about the anatomy somewhat. I cannot tell you how important my anatomical knowledge is to my fitness ascent. Wrestling can help with that, but you'll have to do it often. You can, certainly, read about the anatomy, but you'll want to get first hand knowledge too.
Cardio. Cardio. Cardio. It can make or break you. If you can get to a treadmill, do so. Grab a gatorade bottle or two and start jogging. By the time you're done, you should be pouring sweat and should feel like you're in the Matrix. Stretching is also vital and mandatory to any work out routine. Drive less and jog to more places.
Remember "mind over matter". Some people believe they're at their end when they're not. The human body can endure so much more than we give it credit for. At the slightest bit of pain, people give up. Pain is good, but you'll have to distinguish the good pains from the bad. Pains in your bones and joints are, generally, bad. Pains in your muscles are, generally, good. If you're sore the next morning? You did a good work out.
You'll need to figure out where you want to hone in on and what, exactly, you want to do. If you want to be muscular, you'll need to do a lot of weight lifting. If you want to be cut and well toned -- which is what you should want as this, generally, means your muscles are strong -- then you will need to do a lot of stretching and light weight exercises like push-ups, crunches, squats, etc.
Invest in a few gadgets, if you can spare the money. The Perfect Push-up is great. My brother has one and I use it when it's available. I would suggest doing a lot of stretching and always keep your body active. Abdominal work outs are essential as you need abdominal movement for just about every motion including walking, running and jumping. Push ups are great for your upper body and squats (and calf presses, if you're willing) are great for the lower body.
Also, mind that the organ in your body that requires the most nutrients. Keep your mind preoccupied with interesting new material and those carbs will stick to the brain instead of the body. That's very good.
Diet is important as well. Not so much for me as I already have a fast metabolism. But for others, it's probably one of the most important factors. Tell me a bit about what your goal and body structure is. That is necessary to determine what you should do. As for beverages, my personal preference is Gatorade. But to each his own.
