Here's a literal description of what happens:
The strike makes your body as a whole recoil, to some degree.
The aftershock: pulsing, awkward pain that be felt in your muscles almost all the way up to your stomach. It's somewhat paralyzing, and the balls get really sensitive.
The real pain lasts like a minute, the awkward pain lasts about 5-10.
It's not fun.
