Both of u should just try talking with the girl & see how that goes. Just talk casually & watch her reactions, you can tell a lot by that & even get a hint as to whether she's into u or not. But u do have to approach her, b/c if u don't someone else certainly will. & if she says no, at least you'll know not to waste anymore time on her ... Rejection just hurts, sometimes a lot, but it doesn't kill.
