Absolutely NOT. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmi Hendrix, and Les Paul were not metal musicians, and they're just the popular virtuosos. (Actually, few people know who Les Paul is, these days. He's better than most of the rock/metal musicians I've seen, and without him, there wouldn't be anyone else to compete with) Metal musicians just tap a lot and play fast, not necessarilly creatively or musically. Page is pretty good, but other than that, they get
really boring after a while.
