La familia is a collective noun, so the verb would be "vive."

Fui a Italia para dos semanas y visité a Roma para una semana...

Por is used to signify a duration of time. So, substitute por in for para.

Other than those couple minor grammatical mistakes, good job. I'm 15 and spent a few months in Barcelona on an exchange program. I loved the place... though I've only been learning Spanish for a couple years.
