Oh god. It was original.

A group of 5 samurai warriors have to stop the coming of a demon king, Talpa, bent on exacting revenge and destroying the world for his defeat many centuries ago. Ancients split his armor into 9 pieces in order to prevent his return. Each armor is associated with a Bushido virtue and element. 5 went to the Ronin warriors, 4 went to demon warlords, who work to free Talpa from the netherworld.

The storyline is pretty epic, especially towards the end of the series.
