And you don't wanna be a SEAL just because one you met was a dick? Do you think you will become a dick just because he was one? Or that your marriages will fail because his did? Your not really making sense.
Who cares if they were part of the Navy? They're still Marines. And yeah i'm well aware of the Marines' function and their tasks are very difficult.
Retreating is not bad, you have to retreat sometimes for strategic purposes and such. What's bad is surrendering, which the Marines have only done once, at Wake Island in WW2, and that was only because the US Navy abandoned them. The fleet that was being sent to help them and to destroy the jap fleet turned around and knowingly left them for dead, to deal with the huge Japanese invasion force and fleet by themselves. The Marines did an amazing job of holding out but eventually had to surrender.

well guess what. it's easy to not quit if you have a pair of balls.
from the sounds of it you already accepted that giving up is a choice.
dude you have no idea.
and i'm positive the navy didn't just give up on them. there was probably a reason. it would be insanity to just leave soldiers to die.
retreating is defeat. the marines are against defeat in all meaning of the word. that is the big deal.
you can always give up in the military. take gun, insert to mouth.
